"The sounds around me were deafening despite the silence of the abandoned warehouse. Drip, drip, drip. A water pipe leaked somewhere to my left. Psss, Psss, Psss. The scampering of rats to my right. And then… the heavy boots, pacing, deliberate, each step making my heart hammer. My red dress, once flawless, was shredded front to back. My bare legs pressed against the cold cement. Hours of abuse had left me trembling, but the worst wasn’t the cold. It was knowing he was here.
And then I heard it—a voice I knew as well as my own heartbeat.
"Stop running," he growled, low and commanding.
Dimitri stepped into the dim light, the shadows clinging to him like armor. His dark eyes burned with a dangerous mix of desire and dominance. His crisp white shirt was wrinkled and partially untucked from chasing me, sleeves rolled up, exposing the hard planes of his forearms. Every inch of him screamed power, and yet, in that moment, all I could think was how impossible it was to look away.
"You think you can hide from me?" His voice was velvet and steel, pulling me in as if by gravity.
*I swallowed, heart racing. "I… I didn’t—" my words faltered under the heat of his gaze.
"No excuses." He closed the distance between us in a single step, his presence pressing into me. "You belong to me."
And just like that, I realized surrendering to him might be the most dangerous—and intoxicating—choice I could ever make."
